BALI · PRACTICAL GUIDE · 6 MIN READ
Bali without losing days in traffic
Bali is compact on a map and slow on the road. The difference between an easy holiday and a week of transfers is usually the order of the bases.
Group experiences by geography
Use Ubud for the cultural interior, one east or north base for valleys and waterfalls, then one coast. Repeatedly crossing the south for individual attractions can consume the best hours of the day.
Treat boats as weather-led transport
Fast-boat schedules are plans, not guarantees. Use licensed operators, understand the harbour transfer and return to Bali at least one night before an international flight.
Choose the coast for your priorities
Sanur offers calmer logistics, Canggu has cafés and surf culture, Jimbaran is close to the airport, and the east suits quieter water time. “Best beach” depends on season, swimming and desired pace.
Keep one day deliberately empty
Bali offers endless add-ons, but an open day is often what lets a family, couple or group enjoy the hotel, revisit a neighbourhood or recover after a boat crossing.
Leave a little space for the day you could not have planned.
